Mr. Karen and I decided to skip skiing today. There wasn’t any new snow to speak of so no reason to mix it up with the post-Christmas weekend crowd. I made whole wheat pancakes for breakfast, which were tastier than I thought they’d be, though the pure maple syrup and huckleberry compote I topped them with no doubt helped amp up the deliciousness. After carb and sugar loading, we futzed around the condo doing various projects, then headed down the mountain road to see Star Wars in the little town (under 1200 people) at the base. The showing we were aiming for was sold out, so we bought tickets for the next one, which happened to be in 3D, which wasn’t my first choice but I didn’t want to wait 3 hours for 2D.
We did a bit of shopping, then returned to the theater to wait in line to get a seat in a good spot, as recliners and reserved seating have not made it to small town Idaho yet. I liked the movie, despite how derivative of the earlier Star Wars films it was, and the 3D was fine, and I was glad we saw it before I got spoiled for any major plot points.
After the movie, we ran a few errands and had dinner before heading back up the mountain. Somehow we’d managed to be gone around 7 hours. No more quick trips to the store for us, I guess, now that it’s a 40 minute round trip to anywhere other than the tiny tiny market in the mountain village. It’s an adjustment, for sure.
