These constructions of rubber and metal have made my winter better. They’re Yak Trax that Mr. Karen got me for my birthday in March but which I didn’t use right away, what with the warm spring we had here. I’ve sure been using them the last month or so, stretching them onto my hiking boots and striding confidently down the hill to the village and back. I really do feel more sure-footed with them on. I’m feeling good about not ending up on my butt in the street again like I did one day last season, when I misjudged how slippery a slanted part of the roadway was as I was walking home. It’s the little things.
