In 2009, I did an A to Z title challenge and liked it. This year, I did A to Z authors, and just finished my 26th letter (Y, as it turned out) last night. Here’s the list of books I read to meet the challenge:
A-Wanderlust, Ann Aguirre
B-Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage, M. C. Beaton
C-The 5 Love Languages, Gary Chapman
D-Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, Cory Doctorow
E-The Bible Salesman, Clyde Edgerton
F-The Blue Flower, Penelope Fitzgerald
G-Playing for Pizza, John Grisham
H-A Touch of Dead, Charlaine Harris
I-A Single Man, Christopher Isherwood
J-Cover Her Face, P. D. James
K-Sea Witch, Virginia Kantra
L-Mr. Majestyk, Elmore Leonard
M-Nurture Shock, Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman
N-Leonardo Da Vinci, Sherwin Nuland
O-The Suicide Collectors, David Oppegaard
P-Fire Someone Today, Bob Pritchett
Q-The Ivy Chronicles, Karen Quinn
R-A Fortunate Grandchild, Miss Read
S-Branded by Fire, Nalini Singh
T-Nappily Ever After, Trisha R. Thomas
U-False Witness, Dorothy Uhnak
V-God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian, Kurt Vonnegut
W-Lover Avenged, J. R. Ward
X-Sky Burial, Xinran
Y-Kitchen, Banana Yoshimoto
Z-In Free Fall, Juli Zeh
I think that doing authors instead of titles pushed me to get even more variety in my choices, as once I’d read one book in a series, I had to branch out. Not that I didn’t read those other series books, I just couldn’t count them for this challenge. It did skew me toward reading fiction, though, since fiction is shelved by author name. I’m leaning toward going back to A-Z titles for next year, but I’ve got a few weeks to ponder that still.
On this date in 2009: No Vaccine for This, in which I diagnosed myself with start-itis.
2008: It Was Okay, in which I mused on rating books.
2007: Contrast, in which I went from hot to cold.
2006: Run Like the Dickens, in which I finished my first 5K.
2005: Winter Count — March, in which I recalled my birthday.
2004: Stressed, in which my job and I were having some issues.
2003: TP, in which I explained how the toilet paper is oriented at my house and other issues.
2002: No entry.

I’m doing two reading challenges right now, one that is ending with the end of the year and one that goes Oct-Oct (I think). I’ve never done one before but am really enjoying it.
Yours is really a challenge! Congrats!
