Here I am, back from my traditional post-Holidailies break. I meant to post about this hat during Holidailies, as I finished it last Thanksgiving, but I only got around to taking pictures of it today. They could be better pictures, I realize; I decided not to use that as a reason to procrastinate any longer on sharing it here. The yarn is Ella Rae Amity in colors 18 (which they call “Teal Blue” but which is not anywhere near as green as my idea of teal) and 38 (Royal, but I would have called it periwinkle; it’s a machine washable acrylic/wool blend similar to Plymouth Encore. As I did for Mary’s hat, I used the Head Hugger pattern from Quanah’s website and added length. Based on how it fits on my head, I maybe added one stripe too much length, but better too big than too small. This hat isn’t going to stay with me; it’s destined for the Weetacon raffle in March. I’m sure someone attending will have just the right size head for it. And yes, it does have a swirly on top.
