I am not looking to buy any more real estate, at least not anytime soon, yet I continue to pick up real estate listing guides from brochure stands. I guess it’s like a wish book for grownups. What if I had a lakefront cabin with 65 feet of frontage? Or for only 35 thousand more, a waterfront home with guest cabin and 100 feet of shoreline? I wonder if I’d like living on a lake or if the powerboats would annoy me. Maybe those lakes don’t allow powerboats; is that a thing? Or here’s a mini storage business for sale—what about that? There’s a house on site, too; maybe that’d be a good retirement job. Or if I’m really dreaming big, for $1.2 million, I could get 11 acres with a main house, nine rental units, and indoor pool. I don’t have any money to spend on property, and even if I did, it wouldn’t be $1.2 million, but that doesn’t keep me from thinking about the possibilities. Reading the real estate books is like reading paranormal romance; it’s not reality, but it can be entertaining.
