One month ago today, we had a park reservation for Animal Kingdom, which we’d chosen for this particular day because we also had a breakfast scheduled at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We woke to rain. Lots and lots of rain. We went out anyway, slogging our way across the parking lot at the lodge dodging puddles and small streams. Once inside, it was warm and dry and we had a very nice breakfast and took some time to watch the animals on the savanna. The zebras in particular didn’t seem fussed about the weather.
Then we slogged our way back to our car, drove the short distance to the park, and slogged our way to the gates from our spot in that lot, which seemed rather far away considering the weather. We did both attractions in the Pandora section, paying for a shorter wait at the headliner under Disney’s new Genie+/Lightning Lane scheme and waiting like a peon at the other because that was mostly under cover. We did the safari despite the damp and were rewarded with the sight of a baby hippo grazing on land rather than hanging out in the pool as the hippos pretty much always are when we’ve done this on past trips.
This would have been a perfect day to do the whitewater raft ride, since we were wet already, but it was closed for refurbishment. We did stroll the animal trails even though those aren’t under cover except for a few exhibits. The highlight was a couple young gorillas enjoying getting first pick of the snacks that had been put out since the older members of their troupe had chosen to stay inside out of the rain. Life is good when you can have a whole head of romaine to yourself. By late afternoon, it was still raining and we decided to call it a day. I took relatively few photos compared to a normal day what with worrying about water damaging my devices, but I did get a couple non-animal shots I liked.
We hung out at our condo the rest of the day, able to relax knowing we still had plenty of days to see the parks.

Well, one thing is you got to see it different than usual. Sounds like you got to see some unusual things because of the rain.

We went to Animal Kingdom on our most recent trip with the kids and enjoyed it. We stayed late for the water light show (whatever it’s called) and it was really neat.

I LOVE rainy days at Magic Kingdom. I don’t think we have ever done a rainy AK day yet. It sounds like you made the best of it.
