From Morning ’til Night
December 14, 2021
One month ago, it was the most busy day of our WDW trip, thanks to several events that were part of the podcast meetup for Disney Dish. Setting an alarm was necessary, as we had to be at the entrance of Epcot earlier than we’d been anywhere else the whole trip so far. It was worth it, as we got to have brunch in one of the corporate lounges inside the park. It was a perspective I’ve never seen Epcot from before, so that was worth it in itself. There was a presentation as well; I’m sorry to say I don’t remember much of that other than I wished there was more of an opportunity to listen to the music that was playing … it was all written for Epcot pavilions but never used and can’t be found on the internet either.
We had enough time to do a few attractions at Epcot before we had to leave for the next event, a podcast taping plus Q&A session at the conference center attached to the Contemporary (another place we’d never been at Disney before). There were snacks, too, both savory and sweet, including Mickey ice cream bars and rainbow sprinkle cupcakes.
The sun was setting when we went out to our car after the podcast taping to change clothes for the evening event, and I could not resist taking many many photos of that.
We made our way over to Magic Kingdom via a stop at the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread cottage in the lobby (larger than the tiny houses that are all the rage these days). We were able to see the regular fireworks at the park before the Very Merriest After Hours event started. That had its own fireworks show later, along with a parade and some snacks included in the price. There were a few podcast events during the evening; we chose to go to only a couple of them, spending the rest of the time enjoying the short lines for attractions. It felt like the old days, when you could just show up at the park and wander around and ride pretty much whatever you wanted without waiting forever.
By the time we got back to our car after the party, we’d been on Disney property for about 16 hours. That’s a long, long day.
