I just updated my book log (and my Goodreads and StoryGraph accounts) so I wouldn’t have to do an even bigger catch up at the end of the month. Last year, I read 116 books; this year, I’m at 76 and will probably finish in the 80s. What accounts for the drop? I’m not sure. 2020 was unusually high, double what I did in 2019. I certainly did read my way through the early pandemic, when I went pretty much nowhere so had lots of time to fill. And this year, I did do some traveling, which tends to not involve much reading, as I can do that at home so spend my away time doing other things until I collapse into the hotel bed at night.
I set a pages goal, too, of 25 thousand. I’m about 1800 pages short right now and not sure I’ll make it. That’s okay. I’m reading for comfort now, mostly, with lots of romance because I just need to have something where I know the angst and awfulness will pass, as real life is not giving that to me right now.
