Regular readers will know that my goal is to post a photo diary update every Monday. Regular readers will also know that I do not meet that goal rather often. Thus here I am today with photos from mid-November.
Monday, November 11: Another rainy day when exercise took the form of walking all the aisles at the big box store. I thought these illuminated doggos looked a bit sad … or maybe just resigned to their human dressing them up in a Christmas sweater and earmuffs.
Tuesday, November 12: Ski season is coming: the racks are assembled to be deployed to their winter homes.
Wednesday, November 13: Mr. Karen and I went down to town on a snowy day to give blood and run errands. Came home to see that a snowshoe hare had hopped across our driveway in our absence.
Thursday, November 14: I thought this was finally curtains for my original AppleID. When I tried to use it when I switched to an iPhone in 2022, I could not because I didn’t remember the answers to the security questions I entered when I set it up in 2007 (nor did I record them in any place I could find). I setup a new AppleID for my phone and kept using the old one for iTunes/iPod. When this message popped up, I still didn’t know the answers to the security questions. Fortunately, when I went to reset it, there was an option to receive a code via email and I still have access to the email I used back then, so I was able to get back into my account. Whew.
Friday, November 15: Had dinner in town with Mr. Karen. The restaurant had one of those propane fire pits with glass rocks that so many places have now. The juxtaposition of the modern fire with the very old school ski equipment was interesting.
Saturday, November 16: Coming back through the village on a walk, saw more signs of the impending ski season, with snow guns set up, a groomer coming down the run, and folks who’d hiked up to take advantage of good pre-season coverage (technically against the rules but generally not enforced unless they interfere with operations like avalanche control).
Sunday, November 17: Just a day of taking care of tasks around the house. One of those was changing the sheets, during which process I was attempting to stuff two small pillows into a case I made for one small pillow and managed to rip it so badly that I decided not to try to fix it (it was already rather worn and weakened, thus the rip). This was the first pillowcase I made in this style, from a kit I bought at a quilt shop in Ohio that a coworker and I stopped at on our drive home from a customer site. Twenty years of regular use is pretty darn good, especially since it’s made from quilting fabric rather than the higher thread count fabric that sheets are generally made from.

Now I want to go skiing. I haven’t been in 20 years, so it’s probably not all that great an idea, but I still want to.
