Happy Color In Progress
February 13, 2025
My Happy Color In Progress tab is feeling sort of out of control at the moment, so it seemed like a good time for me to document it for my own purposes. I last did this about a month ago, and while I’ve finished one of the categories I had then, I’ve added more than one, and added pictures to existing categories because I keep finding them as I go looking for images to pair with things like dailies and mysteries.
My most recently completed pictures are these four vanities, three of which are from a “battle of the palettes” Happy Color ran on their Facebook page (group? I’m never quite sure). Given that they publish all the palettes/colorways competing in the battle, it seems it doesn’t really matter who wins.
My in progress queue looks like this right now (I’m including counts this time so I can come back later and be horrified at how much I’d let the queue grow, and describing the separators because they deserve attention, too):
1) Hug Day image I got from Holidays tab yesterday and paired with one from the temporary Love category. I’m glad they put Hug Day on the image, as that way I knew it wasn’t a family Valentine’s pictures. Though I thought we’d already had Hug Day back in December, but apparently this is a different one. (Separators: two pattern images with a sort of knitwork look to them.) [4 images total, including separators]
2) Last week’s dailies and mysteries, with one paired up with a related image from a category to make it an even number. (Separators: four pairs of patterns that I noticed sort of go together now that they’re all getting fairly close to completion, so they’re now their own mini-category that has been staying together; two triangle designs, two tessellating, two tiny consistent block shapes colored to make a larger design, two very complex radiating designs.) [18 images]
3) Pics of the week for February so far. (Separators: spaghetti-like patterns.) [6 images]
4) Valentine’s Day, mostly from the Holidays page. (Separators: patterns with lots of dots. These might be the longest running separators, as I just do a few dots each time they come up.) [14 images]
5) Lunar New Year, again mostly from the Holidays page. Since this is like a two-week celebration, I wasn’t sure when they’d stop coming. Given that one of the last images I added here turned out to be for the Lantern Festival instead according the the Facebook page, maybe it’s safe to finish these all now. I’m keeping the lantern one there because it goes with the lanterns in some of the legit new year ones. (Separators: two geometric patterns that spiral out from a center point.) [14 images]
6) Winter city scene I stumbled across yesterday, paired with a random city scene for now. I’d like to integrate the winter one into the winter category but couldn’t find another winter places scene to go with it, so it’s in its own little group for now. (Separators: two mosaic waves patterns.) [4 images]
7) Winter pictures from across many categories. I found a bunch more recently that I incorporated, mostly from the Animals and Sport categories. (Separators: two wavy lines patterns.) [172 images!]
8) Holiday/season that I’ll do when they roll around again. I moved some from the winter group into here recently when coloring them in more revealed things like very much red and green color schemes and ornaments hiding on trees. Represented now: Christmas, autumn, Kwanzaa, Thanksgiving, India Independece Day, Diwali, Teacher’s Day, World Kindness Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Rubber Duck Day, Hanukkah, Purim. (Separators: abstract overlapping floral blooms.) [46 images]
9) Images that fit into other categories but which I haven’t put there yet. Includes spring/Easter, non-autumn squirrels, possibly lunar new year but maybe not, Valentine’s which I really should have pulled out of here when I started grabbing the current year’s from Holidays. (Separators: concentric circles patterns.) [50 images]
10) Birthday, to be completed next month after the March birthday bonus comes out. (Separators: two floor mosaic tile patterns.) [64 images]
11) Squirrels, non-autumn. (Separators: simple patterns.) [40 images]
12) Easter/spring/bunny/sheep/cows, now with a couple of cows too because why not. Also added more bunnies. (Separators: two op art grids plus 7 spare pairs waiting for their time.) [94 images]
