Happy Color Update for Mid-ish-March

March 24, 2025

My Happy Color in progress page is as organized as it’s been in a while, so much better than it was the last time I documented it.

My most recent finishes are eight of the patterns that I’d been using as separators between groups, dinking away at them for months (maybe years in some cases) as the categories moved around. These are the ones I described as their own mini-category that was staying together: two diamond/triangle designs, two complex radiating designs, two tessellating with curved shapes, two tiny consistent block shapes colored to make a larger design.

Other things I finished since my previous Happy Color update:

Recent holidays—Earth Hour, World Down Syndrome Day, International Day of Forests, International Day of Happiness, Spring Equinox, Ramadan (some from the Holidays tab, some from other categories that were on theme). Hoping very much that the image in there that’s in the running for last week’s picture of the week doesn’t win because if it does, that will mess up my system. (30 images)

Dailies/mysteries & friends (18)

Pisces, as part of my birthday week celebrations, some from the Horoscopes category and some from Marine because fish. Might have been a bonus or two in there but I’m not sure. (32)

St. Patrick’s Day, some from Holidays, some from the temporary Lucky Green category, though I didn’t do the ones from there that seemed to be the same image in the same colors as I’d already done. (16)

Birthday, which included the last 12 monthly birthday bonuses as well as various images of parties, cakes, and gifts I’d collected. (72)

Holi and Purim (4)

Winter, which I wanted to get done before spring started. Includes winter sports, winter fashions, animals in winter (wolves, foxes, moose, deer, penguins, polar bears, big cats, birds), landscapes and places in winter, hot chocolate, knitting. (204)

More dailies and mysteries and friends (28)

Picture of the month for February and friend (4)

Lantern Festival, finished late because I was waiting to see if the lantern image that was a pic of the week was also the pic of the month for February. It was not; the violin player got it. (8)

Other pics of the week for February (4)

World Wildlife Day (2)

Heart shaped boxes, one of which should have been with the Love category below but was not because I restarted it when I was finishing that group and then couldn’t find it again to get it back in the group in the right sequence. Turned out it was because it was a Daily, where I hadn’t thought to look for it as I don’t usually include those in big groups. (2)

Women’s Day and Women’s History Month (10)

March, the month (2)

Start of Ramadan (2)

Venice and Brazil Carnival, a couple of which I pulled from the random holidays group in progress, so that felt good. Later I noticed a bonus I hadn’t included so that went into the random holidays group, which did not feel as good. (12)

Love, not to be confused with Valentine’s Day (150)

Black History Month (10

Washington’s Birthday (2)

Dailies and mysteries from February (14)

Dog Walking Day (2)

More dailies and mysteries from February (34)

Love Your Pet Day; I turned two images, a Holidays one and a Bonus, into a much larger group by going through various categories and finding images of pets with and without their people. (40)

Valentine’s Day (42)

Holidays: Lunar New Year, Internet Friends Day, Hug Day (14)

Currently In Progress:

1.) Dailies and mysteries from last week still needing to be paired with friend. (Separators: two mosaic waves patterns.) [8 images total, including separators]

2.) Pictures of the week for March so far. (Separtors: two patterns with shapes made up of concentric line.) [8]

3.) Spring, many from the fashion category. (Separators: two wavy lines patterns.) [40]

4.) Easter, waiting for next month when there’ll be more. (Separators: monster triangle pic and simpler horizontal diamonds pattern; feel like these could have better partners but haven’t found any yet.) [6]

5.) Bunnies/rams/sheep/cows. These could be merged with spring or Easter. (Separators: overlapping floral-esque patterns.) [94]

6.) Squirrels. This was intended to be a spring/summer group but as I colored in more of the pictures when I was rearranged things, I found one winter image, and I’m not sure what to do about that. Consider it early spring is my first thought. (Separators: patterns with lots of dots.) [64]

7.) Valentine’s Day/Love that I found after I’d finished those groups. (Separators: two knitwear-esque, two spaghetti-like, four I came across that still need better partners.) [18]

8.) Holiday/seasonal. Includes: Kwanzaa, Christmas, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, autumn, summer, India Independece Day, Diwali, World Kindness Day, Rubber Duck Day, Teacher’s Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Relaxation Day, Kindness Day, equinox, people with birds on their hats day (probably not a real day but these went together so well I had to save them somewhere), Canada Day, World Water Day, Valentine’s Day (found earlier than the ones in group 7 but still after I finished this year’s images). (Separators: all the rest of them, 28, so many that I felt fine finished the four I kicked off this entry with.) [103; yes this odd number bothers me here]
